Who we are

We are a former FIRST Lego League (FLL) team from Oakville, Ontario, Canada, The Hydrators. Some original team members have continued the development of our product.

FLL is an international competition organized by FIRST aimed for middle school students. The competition involves 3 components, a science research project, a robot challenge and a core values challenge. Every year in August, FIRST Lego League releases a scientific and a real-world challenge for teams to find a related problem - and solution. Our year’s theme (2016-2017) was Animal Allies, and it basically was about how to improve the relationship between animals and humans. We began the journey with the Regionals by winning the first place Champions Award. And the next step was to win the Provincials at the Waterloo University. We progressed onto the Provincials and won the first place Champions Award again. After the Provincial win we added one more feather in our cap by winning the Ontario Innovation Celebration hosted by IBM. This boosted our morale and we were really looking forward to the World Festival in St. Louis, Missouri.  In St. Louis we won the first place Innovation Award, a huge accomplishment. Our final destination was Washington DC for the prestigious Global Innovation Celebration, where we won the first place with a grand prize of $20,000.
